Get started

From zero to your first agent edit in about five minutes.

1

Install BashCut

Needs macOS and Homebrew. This installs the app and the bashcut command.

brew install --cask dongnguyenvie/tap/bashcut
2

Connect your agent

Inside BashCut nothing is needed: the Claude and Codex tabs in the agent dock already have the skills. To use Claude Code or Codex from your own terminal, run one of these.

bashcut agent setup claude
bashcut agent setup codex

Or install the kit as a Claude Code plugin:

/plugin marketplace add dongnguyenvie/bashcut-agent-kit
/plugin install bc@bashcut-agent-kit

Skills then appear as /bc:NAME, for example /bc:audio-mix.

3

Make a project

Create a project, import your clips, and open the Claude tab in the agent dock.

4

Say what you want

Start with the edit workflow and let it pick the recipe. You approve the plan before anything is cut.

Edit these clips into a 60-second vertical vlog. Show me the plan before you cut.
5

Review, undo, export

Every change is in History. Ask for a review pass, undo anything you dislike, then export.

Tips for better results

  • Say the platform and length: "60-second vertical for TikTok".
  • Ask for the plan first. Approve it before the cut.
  • Be specific about taste: "leave every other cut hard" beats "make it dynamic".
  • Ask the agent to record a lesson when it gets something wrong. It remembers next time.
  • Update with brew upgrade --cask bashcut.

Try the sample project

The repo can build a small project that puts every kind of layer on one timeline, so you can try prompts against all of them.

scripts/sample-project.py --light

Now pick a skill or a recipe and paste its prompt.
